Sorry! I didn't mean to to forsake...

Merry merry guys!!!
Here's the latest, some of the final projects I am focusing for the last 2 minutes left to our semester (gahh).

I am still working with clothing and looking at the manner in which it is made. I started this semester with making funny cloth hand like forms, but the funniness in their appearance wasn't totally intentional, I just had know idea how to make a glove like fabric form, which was surprisingly complex to me. So I started collecting tape handcasts of my friends, and asking them to either make me a glove (if they'd like) or if I could design a glove for them. So the gloves project has a been a process of collecting other people's approaches to making and conceptions of form, along with attempting to refine (or sort of refine) my own approach to making.

(Check out my zipper glove, lower left, for my friend David! I have since started to cover the seams where the zippers are sewn together with space themed fabric, which suits him. My zipper glove is maybe my favorite thing I have made this semester)

Still on my "reclamation of making" kick, I also started to construct a pair of pants for a non generic bodily form I constructed out of packing tape and saran wrap. So I am looking at patterns, but re-formatting them to suit my this funny body. This is in an effort to gain a more intuitive sense of designing clothing. The first pair came out so ugly, I am onto pair #2, there will probably be another to follow.

And I am working on a sort of paper body cast held together with embroidery imitating machine made stitching. Working backwards a little bit, looking at that which holds our clothing together, but is usually not showcased within the final product.

I am in mad seamstress mode, I can't wait to get back to Vermont, see you guys soon!

Have an awesome holiday!!
