I just received a kind, solicitous note from my AT (a group mailing), wondering how I was doing and where was my bibliography for VC project. I must admit, I am at a loss. Uncharacteristically, I still don't have a coherent bibliography, or plan for my VC project. In a word - or two- I'm floundering. I have ideas- perhaps too many- and no direction for reigning them in. I am determined to submit something by tomorrow night- but- am wondering in general- how can I translate what my long term interests and pursuits are into a six month semester, and still feel as if I am being true to the program and what I am genuinely interested in?
And, I think dinner is burning in the oven.
Love to all,
sumru

  1. I have the same problem, Sumru. I want to know about too many disparate things.

What I did was I just picked something. If you like so many things, just pick one and see where it takes you. I had to pick one thing even though I'm interested in a million.

If it's of any consolation I have no idea what my third mailing will be. And I'm a little nervous about getting my first one in on time.

Did you tell Ulrica you're feeling this way? Maybe she can help. She's your faculty advisor, right?

  2. I am becoming a John Cage something all I am focusing on although this may change their is a quote from his book Silence that made me think of you Sumru it doesnt in anyway solve what you find yourself in but none the less for your reading pleasure "...the past and the present are to be observed and each person makes what he alone must make, bringing for the whole of human society into existence a historical fact, and then, on and on, in continuum and discontinuum."
