Leah, my god! These are so different from what I saw at the residency! They absolutly evoke horror. THe colors, forms, and the aura they project is very terrifying. Its like one of those really dark dreams that you rarely have but when you do it sticks to your energy for days and days. These are great! The third one down isnt as scary and brings up the sympathy more. Its more approachable and I start to feel bad for this bunny who is clearly uncomfortable in its own body. :)
What size are these? Are they on paper? What kind of paint? Look terrifying and pathetic, freaked out and in need of a hug! I really dig the top 1st one the enviroment is junk yard/messy bedroom which plays well with the horror/pity these teeth baring bunnies share.
Leah, I am drawn to them. The composition of the second image from top down really suggests horror, pity and fear. The massive figure is being squeezed/crushed by the tiny space he/she occupies, trapped. How will it end? I find the less breathing room around the figures the more uncomfortable it is to look at them. (in a good way. hahah) I hope we get to see them in person, although by the residency they could look very different again. It is really interesting to see people's work in progress- there will be some context for July. Hope you are well everyone.
your feedback is SO helpful! thanks so much! sometimes i feel like i'm painting in a cave...i didn't realize how reliant i am on my piers' critique until i went without it.
they are human scale and done with acrylics. i can't wait to see everyone.
These are insane, this lurking creature that has to be dealt with, contended with, yet maybe also cared for, can never be loved but definitely pitied, maybe also provoking empathy in it's helplessness. It's an emotional roller coaster.
